The summer school Abecedarian of SIDE (ASIDE) is a summer school aimed at graduate students and early career researchers (ECRs) born in 2008, with a strong interest sparked by two young scientists, Rafaël Verge-Rebelo and Mike Hay, during the 8th edition of the conference Symmetries and Integrability of Difference Equations. The underlying idea behind this school is to foster peer-to-peer learning, creating a more informal atmosphere where students can ask questions and engage in in-depth discussions.
The first edition of ASIDE was held jointly with the SIDE 10 meeting in 2012, near Shanghai. A second edition took place in Montreal together with the SIDE12 meeting. Notably, ASIDE was absent from the two subsequent SIDE meetings in Japan (SIDE13) and Poland (SIDE14), but will return associated with the 15th conference Symmetries and Integrability of Difference Equations (SIDE15), which will be held in Sirmione. Meanwhile, the Abecedarian school (ASIDE) itself will take place in Milan at Università degli Studi di Milano.
In this edition, ASIDE features six short courses on topics relevant to the audience attending the SIDE15 conference, presented by young scientists. For a detailed list and course content, please refer to the dedicated page.
